The Service Project Ruled!

An awesome day of work with YESC! Eleven of us braved the drizzly weather in the name of service. We spent some time cleaning the goat pen, restoring the upper garden, and of course, some invasive plant removal! Thanks to all who helped today!

YESC Service Project and Trip on Saturday!!!

Hey gang,

We're looking forward to a very exciting weekend for YESC!

On Saturday, March 24th, YESC will meet in the Camp Modular for a service project from 10am-2pm. Throughout the day, we will tackle jobs in both the Environmental Education Center and the Cassatt Preserve. As some of you have heard, the EE Center's rental goats have returned to their owner so we must begin preparations for when our beautiful baby goats arrive! No need to register for this project, just show up with a lunch, water bottle, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

That night, we will embark on our first ever Rollerskating Night! The trip will depart from UMLY at 6:30pm and pick up LCY participants at Lionville at 7pm before heading to the skating rink. LCY participants will be dropped off at 10pm, and UMLY participants will return at 10:30pm. Rumor has it Shanna is going to go in disco-themed apparel!

Get involved!

Special thanks to Chris Walters and Delaware Valley Ornithological Club (DVOC) for leading this annual trip. This was our ninth year!

Barnegat Inlet Field Trip this Saturday!

Before I begin this entry, I wanted to thank everyone again for a wonderful weekend at the Frost Valley YMCA! This past weekend's trip was certainly one for the ages, and we will post a field trip report of the weekend on here shortly.

This Saturday we will be making our yearly adventure to Barnegat Inlet and Brigantine Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge with our friends in the Delaware Valley Ornithological Committee (DVOC.) Participants need to bring a lunch and a water bottle. Please dress for cold and wet conditions! YESC has limited binoculars to lend.

This trip has been a great YESC tradition for at least the last eight years, and these expert birders have treated us to some real birding treats such as Peregrine Falcon, Short-Eared Owl, Ipswitch Sparrow, Harlequin Duck, and countless other species of waterfowl. We begin our trip heading out onto "Shaky Ted's Jetty" in search of waterfowl.
